Terms of Use — Kasht
Version 1.0 · Last updated:
These terms are an agreement between you and Mithaq Compliance LLC (Commercial Registration No. 7054299107; national address: 145 Street, Al-Yasmin District, Riyadh 13322, Saudi Arabia) about using the Kasht app and the kasht.app website. By using Kasht, you agree to them. By creating an account, with an email address or with “Continue with Google”, you agree to them, and confirm that you’ve read the privacy policy and that you’re 18 or older, as the app says when you create it. To share photos or spots, the app asks you to agree to them explicitly on the “Before you share” screen. The privacy policy explains how we handle your data.
What Kasht is
Kasht is an app that helps you find desert camping spots in Saudi Arabia. It has a map that works without the internet, track recording and following a track back, private pins, trip planning with gear lists, emergency numbers, and photos and spots that visitors share and the Kasht team reviews before publishing.
Estimates — check before you go
Many of Kasht’s spots come from public sources such as maps and tourism listings, and nobody has checked them on the ground. A pin can be kilometres off, and details like access, ground, coverage and season are estimates, not guarantees. What visitors share is reviewed by the team, but the team can’t check everything on the ground, and conditions change.
Going out into the desert has its risks: sand, flash floods, heat and cold, and no mobile signal. You are responsible for your decision to go, and for your own safety and that of the people with you. Check the route and the weather before you set off, don’t take a single vehicle to difficult places, and tell someone where you’re going.
A spot appearing on Kasht doesn’t mean camping there is allowed: some places need a permit, and some are private property or protected areas. Follow the rules and instructions wherever you go.
Kasht is no substitute for emergency services. In an emergency, call the ambulance (Red Crescent) on 997, Civil Defense on 998, or Road Security on 996.
Your account
- You need an account to share photos or spots, or to report or hide content. You don’t need one to use the map, tracks, private pins and trips.
- You must be 18 or older to create an account, and you confirm this when you create it.
- Create your account with an email address you own and confirm it, keep your password safe and don’t share it with anyone. You are responsible for what is done through your account.
- One account per person.
- You may be signed out on a device — for example after 180 days without use, or after a password reset — and you then sign in again.
- You can delete your account at any time from Settings in the app, or at kasht.app/delete. The privacy policy explains what is deleted and what stays.
Your contributions
When you share a photo or suggest a spot, you confirm the following:
- The photos are ones you took yourself, at the place itself, and you have the right to share them.
- They show no clear faces or number plates: no face anyone could recognise and no plate anyone could read.
- They contain nothing offensive and no advertising.
- What you write about the spot, and where you put the pin, are accurate to the best of your knowledge, and what you write includes no one’s personal information, such as names or phone numbers.
- Sharing it breaks no law and infringes no one’s rights.
You are responsible for what you share.
Kasht uploads a fresh copy of each photo, made on your phone, without where or when it was taken or any device details; your original photo isn’t changed. If you suggest a spot with “My current position”, the place where you stood may become a public pin on the map after review.
The licence you give Kasht
Your photos remain yours. By sending a photo or a spot suggestion, you give Mithaq Compliance LLC a non-exclusive, free, worldwide licence, with no end date, to use, copy, edit (such as cropping, resizing and re-encoding photos, editing text and adjusting the pin), publish, display and distribute what is published from your contributions in Kasht and its services, including the public data the app downloads and the kasht.app website. This includes hosting it with the service providers we use to run Kasht. We never use your contributions in any advertising or promotion, not even for Kasht itself.
Kasht publishes your contributions without your name, and you agree to that. This licence continues after you delete your account, so your published contributions stay on Kasht, unlinked from you, as you agreed on the “Before you share” screen: “I understand that the photos and places I share, including where I put the pin, become part of Kasht once reviewed and published, and stay, without my name, even if I delete my account later.” Anything not yet published is deleted with your account.
You can ask at any time for a published photo you sent to be removed, using “Report” or by writing to us, and we’ll remove it once we can confirm you sent it. After you delete your account, nothing links you to it, so send us, with your request, something that shows it’s yours. You can also ask for a published spot you suggested to be removed, and we’ll consider that request.
Moderation and restricting accounts from sharing
- The Kasht team reviews every photo and every suggestion before it is published, and nothing is published without review.
- The team may publish a contribution or reject it, ask you for details, publish some photos and not others, add them to an existing spot, or edit the name, description, spot details and pin before publishing.
- The team may unpublish or remove any content at any time, even after it is published.
- You’ll find the status of each contribution in “My contributions”, with the reason for the decision when it is rejected, when we ask for details, or when it is removed after publication. If you think a decision is a mistake, write to us.
- We are under no obligation to publish any contribution.
- If an account breaks these terms, we may restrict it from sharing and reporting. Its contributions waiting for review are then rejected and their photos deleted, and we may remove what it published. The account’s owner sees a notice in the app that the account can’t share or report, can still browse, hide, delete what is waiting for review and delete the account, and may write to us with questions. If they ask for the reason for the restriction, we tell them by email. If a restricted account is deleted, the same email can’t be used for a new account for two years. We may also end an account that breaks these terms, meaning we delete it ourselves: it is deleted as if its owner had deleted it, and its email can’t be used for a new account for two years.
Reporting and hiding
- You can report any published photo or spot with “Report” and a reason. We review reports and decide what to do. We never tell the person whose content it is who reported it, and we don’t send you the outcome of your report.
- Don’t send false or abusive reports, and don’t repeat reports to harass. Each account can send one report per item, and at most 10 reports a day.
- “Hide everything this contributor shares” hides their photos and spots from you alone, on any phone you sign in on, and we don’t tell them. Hiding has limits for each account. The privacy policy explains what hiding reveals.
- Anyone who appears in a published photo can ask for it to be removed by writing to us, even without an account.
What isn’t allowed
- Publishing offensive, unlawful or misleading content, or advertising.
- Sharing photos you didn’t take yourself, or photos that show clear faces or number plates.
- Sharing places in military areas or in areas with restricted entry.
- Sharing a place on private land without the landowner’s permission.
- Impersonating anyone, or using someone else’s account.
- Creating several accounts, or a new account, to get around limits or a restriction on your account from sharing.
- Trying to identify or track contributors.
- Trying to access other people’s accounts or Kasht’s systems without permission, disrupting them, getting around their limits, or sending them heavy automated traffic.
- Using Kasht for any purpose that breaks the laws of Saudi Arabia.
Limits of liability
Kasht and its information are provided as they are, without any guarantee that they are accurate, complete or fit for your purpose, and without any guarantee that the app or the server will work without interruption. To the fullest extent the law allows, Mithaq Compliance LLC is not liable for any harm or loss arising from relying on Kasht’s information, from your trips and decisions in the desert, or from content visitors share. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud or gross negligence, liability for harmful acts, or any other liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
Ending use
You can stop using Kasht and delete your account at any time. We may restrict an account that breaks these terms from sharing, or end it, and we may stop Kasht or any part of it. If we decide to shut Kasht down altogether, we’ll announce it in the app at least 30 days before.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Saudi Arabia, and the competent courts in Riyadh have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. If the Arabic text and this English translation differ, the Arabic text prevails.
Changes
We may change these terms. We publish each new version here with a new number and its date, and the app asks you to agree to the new version before you share again.
